The Canadian Football Association says it is investigating allegations made by a previous Toronto Argonauts strength and conditioning mentor who alleges to have been unjustly dismissed subsequent to being harassed by quarterback Chad Kelly
TORONTO (AP) — The Canadian Football Association is investigating allegations made by a previous Toronto Argonauts strength and conditioning mentor who alleges to have been illegitimately dismissed in the wake of being harassed by quarterback Chad Kelly, the association reported Wednesday.
The association said it has opened the investigation in agreement with its orientation based savagery strategy.
The mentor recorded a statement of case with the Ontario Superior Official courtroom last week alleging an example of harassment by Kelly that started with undesirable heartfelt advances and escalated into instances of threatening language.
The mentor said the club didn’t act when told of Kelly’s way of behaving and accused assistant senior supervisor John Murphy of saying the report “got into a tricky situation that didn’t should be opened.”
The Argonauts said in a statement the club will help out the CFL’s investigation. An Argonauts spokesman alluded The Associated Press to the group statement when asked assuming Kelly was free for input. Kelly’s representative, Chris Lambiris, said neither he nor Kelly could remark.
“The Toronto Argonauts share the CFL’s obligation to providing sound and positive workplaces,” the group statement reads. “The association will reserve any further remark until the conclusion of the association’s investigation.”
The CFL said it is taking the allegations “seriously.”
The mentor said they were told Jan. 29 that their agreement wouldn’t be reestablished. The mentor is seeking $80,000 from Kelly and a total of $85,714 from the Argonauts.
The AP does not recognize asserted victims of sexual harassment unless they award permission to be named.
Kelly, named the CFL’s most outstanding player last season, played school football at Clemson and Mississippi. He is the nephew of Pro Football Hall of Acclaim quarterback Jim Kelly and was the final pick of the 2017 NFL draft.
